Great American Heroes........

Just to see how everyone looks at America,.....from conception to present,....name what you believe to be the Top three American Heroes of all time in "YOUR" book. I guess there is no real wrong answer here. It may be a political figure for some,...military, or humanitarian I reckin. I just thought it would be a different way for us to see how our backgrounds/regional up-bringings and beliefs may affect the way we pick our Heroes.
Also,....Rick Allen,....D.B. Cooper doesn't count!!!!!!! LMAO

For me, that's a pretty easy question.

They would be:

1. George Washington
2. Abraham Lincoln
3. Thomas Jefferson

With honorable mentions to Michael Jack Schmidt, the greatest third baseman to ever pick up a glove, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Springsteen, and Mark Twain.

You guys are gonna get it when General Longstreet shows up for y'alls FDR choice. Just so happens I'm an FDR fan myself. Allan and I had a friendly disagreement about the man over a few drinks of Vodka and Crown Royal at A.W. Shucks in Charleston. Seems the man doesn't hold FDR in very high regard,...and a few drinks does not sway him from that stance either. :))))

Many have been able to call themselves politicians. Few can claim to have risen to the level of world statesman, in the truest sense of the word. I think that FDR is one of those 'few'.

I agree with Rick, Peter North is the quintesential American hero. I know I always aspired to be more like him than any other role model!

I guess I'd throw Lyndon Johnson, Creighton Abrams and Martin Luther King in there as well--but definately Peter North!

Wow...

There's famous, not-famous, sports, adult situations (casting vote for Mr. North in this category), and everything else.

1) Patton and his troops - Just ask the 101st during the Battle of the Bulge.

2) Dale Earnhardt - The kind of things he did to help oridinary people without wanting or receiving any publicity or recognition is incredible.

3)Pat Tillman - need I say anything? I should hope not.

There's just so many... this one is tough.

Personal... My Dad and my grandfathers. I'll never be able to do what they have done, although I wish I could.

As far as FDR - say what you want, but a Socialist is a Socialist, even if he is one of the 'Greatest' Presidents. Once of these days, I Sincerely Hope everyone will learn to read between the lines, and whole of a sudden - FDR is not going to appear in the limelight. Trust me, I so much wish that I was wrong, but unfortunately I'm not. The Country as a whole still reels from some of his 'reforms', if you will...
