I didnt even know there were 130 of the man...
One little side note... We have the Gettysburg Address as one of the greatest speeches of all time..........
How many even REMEMBER Everett? He was the key note speaker if I recal correctly. Lincoln was invited almost as an afterthought so I understand the story..

Just a side note to your sidenote: Alot of newspapermen were not impressed with Lincoln's address...Nonethless, Everett was, and sent a letter to Lincoln afterward, in which he said: "I wish that had come as close to the central point in two hours, as you came in two minutes". You have to respect Everett for that... Coinman

I agree with you coinman. It was so classy of Everett.
IIRC Lincoln said something to the effect that this speech in essence stunk..
