Ladies and Gents:
Wiley Sword's new book of essays, Courage Under Fire: Profiles in Bravery From the Battlefields of the Civil War contains an essay titled "What Kind of Courage?" In this chapter Sword dedicates a mere two sentences to Gen. John Bell Hood's legendary personal bravery that cost him his left arm at Gettysburg and right leg at Chickamauga, and spends the remainder of his 4,500 words mercilessly attacking Gen. Hood's personal honor and integrity by claiming the he had no "moral courage."
Wiley Sword is a master at fact-filtering historical records, revealing only records that reinforces his premises, while concealing all evidence that doesn't. Although Sword's books are often entertaining to read, his methods are the lowest form of scholarship.
The John Bell Hood Historical Society has posted a detailed expose' of Sword's latest scholastic malfeasance at www.swordexposed.com
