I think they are the same guy.
You know, for years I've been creeped-out by that sinister gleam in Andersons eye in his most reproduced (maybe only?) photograph......and distantly, I always knew that I had seen those eyes somewhere else but could'nt place where?
Today, it came to me like a flash; like a vision burnt across the clouds, the other dude with those funky eyes was none other than the bombed-out, liquor-swilling, indestructable, Romanov pounding, ...Rasputin!!!
I was as shocked as you are! Look at the eyes I tell ya!
I've come up with nothing this Earth shaking since my idea years ago that Layfayette McLaws may actually have been reported as a Bigfoot in East Tennessee during the late season unpleasantness of '63.
Usually, I dont have anything so groundbreaking to say, but I figured I had better let you guys know about it in case it turns out to be true.
More updates as they become available.
Regards,

Let's see:
R.H. Anderson (Sorry, best I could find.)
Rasputin
Hood
The part in their hair is in different places, but the "eyes" have it.
It's too bad that Anderson didn't stay in the Union because his uniform would be closer in color to Rasputin's costume.[/img] _________________ "Let us have faith that right makes might..."

I've often wondered if Illinois' football coach Ron Zook, is related to General Samuel Zook.
I mean, how many Zooks are there?
Did you know that "Dumb and Dumber" star Jeff Daniels has his own statue?

Corydon
I have been to that statue many a times and enjoyed the view over the Penobscot - err ..that is Androscoggin River between Brewer and Bangor. A view that Joshua Chamberlain himself enjoyed for many many many years. And his birth home is right down the street from that statue. I never saw Dumber there when I was there.
And Rick ... I think John Bell Hood's photo needs to go there somewhere. Whatcha think?

The one Edgar Allan Poe story I can actually remember seems appropo to this thread:
The Tell-Tale Heart
Perhaps Anderson (and even Rasputin) had their own "madman" peaking in their room at midnight waiting to extinguish their life and that of their sinister "Evil Eye."
