Fess Parker
Known more for his roles as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. Those shows were before my time, so my first recollection of him was as James Andrews in The Great Locomotive Chase.
Parker was 6'6", which I'm sure would have put him several inches taller than the real James Andrews.

Fess was one of my boyhood heroes. He grew up in San Angelo, not too far from my boyhood home in Abilene, Texas.
RIP brother!

Not sure if anyone else remembered this about Jimmy Dean, but he was actually in a James Bond film, "Diamonds are Forever."
Not to go into any detail about his part, but he played Willard Whyte. If you're seen the film, that's all you need to know. _________________ "Let us have faith that right makes might..."

I always thought that it was rather ironic that his brother, Eric Nielson, was a prominent Canadian politician and deputy prime minister.
That ought to open up a whole new thread!

Nielsen had ties to Gettysburg.
Don't forget the 1955 documentary he narrated on the battle. It's on the Ron Maxwell "Gettysburg" film DVD. Although some of the camera work was corny (and the monuments were badly in need of cleanup), it's definitely worth a look. If nothing else, you get some nice aerial pictures of the battlefield and you get to see what it looked liked over 50 years ago.
It was nominated for some Oscars.
