Hi Eagle One
Late but heart is there wishes for your birthday yesteday ! Loved the Birthday/Gettysburg story our dear Gen Longstreet embellished upon you !! You have a way with the words sir.
And about the shoes .. all they had to do was ask my GGGrandfather Corp John Roth to make them a couple hundred pairs while he was there for the day but .. they couldn't catch John as he scampered up Washington Street to ECH for a day or two with the 74th boys. He was a shoe/boot maker all his life. Infact, I have a pair of his shoes that he made .... a pair of baby shoes that were handed down and my father wore when he was a toddler. Neat.
Happy day to you Eagle ... how you soared all day long !!!

I believe our "in-house T-Shirt collector" has one, no?
You would be correct, sir. And in keeping with this theme, I also have one with a pair of brogans and 'all roads lead to Gettysburg' on it. (there's no factory on it though...)
Guys, if you do open that bar, don't partner with Rick. You'll never see a dime of profit out of the place.
Several years ago my niece did a paper for school on Gettysburg. We agonized over the shoe story. Finally went with the wishy-washy "some people say this - some people say that" version rather than risk her grade and end up arguing with her teacher.
But everytime I watch 'The Civil War' and hear "The greatest battle ever fought in the western hemisphere began as a clash over shoes", I scream at the television "NO it didn't!". (it's become a tradition of sorts) _________________ "There are nights here with the moonlight, cold and ghastly & the whippoorwills & the screech owls alone disturbing the silence when I could tear my hair & cry aloud for all that is past & gone."- Mary Chesnut
