I am with you Chris. Where do we sign up?
Hi REvans. Glad to have you here. They should rename it to the Non-History Channel. Except for Tuesday mornings at 7:00 a.m. And sometimes Sat mornings at 8 a.m.

The History Channel has hit a new low tonight....The History of Dung. Not even worth commenting on.
Tell me you're joking.
Well, the 4th of July is coming up so it's time for them to break out their "American Eats" episodes where we can all learn about the history of the hot dog, the apple pie, and other "American" foods. _________________ "Let us have faith that right makes might..."

You are joking, right?
I suppose they'll try to justify the gang series as "history in the making". Even as such, it doesn't belong on The History Channel -- The Learning Channel might be a better venue for that. Same for that ice road show and the one about the lumberjacks.
Also, the number of commercials they air has gotten ridiculous.
Join host Monty Halls as he investigates the historical, medical, scientific and evolutionary importance of poop on an excremental safari guaranteed to fascinate even the most squeamish of viewers. You'll be surprised by the amazing manner in which the world puts dung to use. Discover that through a 14,000-year-old human dung deposit it has been determined that humans inhabited North America 1300 years earlier than previously thought. Climb a 100-foot mountain of bat guano in Borneo that is teeming with insect life. Travel to India and view housewarming rituals using sacred cow dung as good luck. Finally Halls drinks coffee made from poop and investigates, through their large droppings, why mammoths might have disappeared. _________________ "Let us have faith that right makes might..."

More useless ranting, but just for the hell of it I went to their site a few minutes ago. The big story for this date in history? Hong Kong is returned to China. Is there a mention anywhere on the home page of Gettysburg, much less any scheduled programming? Of course not. Monster Quest and something called Tougher in Alaska are both prominently featured though.
Look through their current line up. Obviously we and others like us are no longer cool, relevant, exciting, potential spenders, etc etc. So be it. I suppose that's fair enough since I no longer consider their network relevant and told them so when they wasted postage sending me a packet trying to get me to subscribe to their magazine. Figured I'd use their dime and send 'em a little letter in the pre-paid envelope. Kinda wish I'd waited now but I was hot enough when I sent it, shortly after June 6 passed by with no programming at all that I could find in their listings recognizing D-Day.
Won't say what I told 'em but leave it at saying if THAT doesn't get me off their mailing list they truly are idiots...
Regards,
Keith
Did this new programming coincide with a new CEO? What a joke. They've got a sister station (which of course I don't currently get thru Dish Network) which evidently has more history-based programming.
I might get it when I upgrade considering that I don't get the NFL Network or the The Big Ten Network now either.
I don't know if a letter writing campaign would help. The only thing that would help is if their viewership goes down and the money they get from advertising drops. _________________ "Let us have faith that right makes might..."

Wow. This truly is a new low.
Now, if they could show us examples of Julius Ceasars shit......comparing and contrasting it to that of.........oh lets say,........Charlemagne, WC Fields and Rudolf Hess...............they might be on to something.
Dont think I'd watch.........but at least it would be a show about Historical Shit.

Certainly sounds that way.

Yeah, and then they could do an entire series about religious fanaticism on Holy Shit.

I couldn't agree more with all your comments about the History Channel. I tend to watch History International more often. We have video-on-demand and I was hoping there would be programs on revolutionary history for the 4th, but all the offerings were "Ice Road Truckers" and "Ax Men." I try to watch the History Channel on Tuesday mornings for "Civil War Journal", and I also find interesting history shows on the Biography Channel and A&E in the mornings if you get these channels. It used to be that on July 4th one channel (I unfortunately don't remember which one specifically) would broadcast "Gettysburg" repleat with non-edited scenes for the shorter movie version, but as far as I know this hasn't been done for a couple of years.
I will also send an e-mail to the History Channel. Thank you for the information...:>)

Hi Anna.
I think TBS used to air Gettysburg on the 4th, but for the last few years I havent seen it in that slot. The Military Channel though did run a whole series on the American Revolution all day on the 4th of July,.........so at least somebody was paying attention.
Not the History Channel though...........something tells me that if you put 15 hopped-up Orangutangs in a dark room, they could at the very least come up with equally sensible programming.
I've pretty much given up on THC............(the television version, that is......) as you said, History International seems to offer much better
wares.
Regards and Welcome Aboard,
