Master of War: The Life of Major-General George H. Thomas by Benson Bobrick.

Benson Bobrick recounts the military career of Union General George H. Thomas, known as the "The Rock of Chickamauga," whom the author argues was the most successful general during the Civil War. Mr. Bobrick contends that Union Generals Ulysses S. Grant and William Tecumseh Sherman minimized General Thomas' efforts to inflate their own. This event was hosted by The Civil War Round Table of New York at 3 West Club in New York City.

About the Author:

Benson Bobrick is the author of several books, including "Angels in the Whirlwind: The Triumph of the American Revolution." Mr. Bobrick received the Literature Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2002.

Though my opening remarks were cut from the show, CSPAN did a fine job muting the road construction noise that took place about halfway through Bobrick's talk.

Not every day my Dad claps for me, but he did when they did not delete me giving the speaker his plaque at the end of the program. So that was nice.
